Baptised - Jayden Benedict - my Godson

All in all an eventful and definitely a very meaningful day for the whole family :) Check out the few pics below...captioned to hit the point home. For more peeks, visit Kristie's blog.

Mummy with Jayden Benedict (check out the ji-gong moves from the martial arts sifu), Kenneth, James, Kristie, Papa, Me, Kathy, Krischelle, Tita Kim & Christian

The baptism ritual: wetting tai ko's head with holy water beneath the sign of the cross and the annointing with the oil. Think Jayden was pretty amused with the water activity...

"Baptised! I am apparently now the holiest and saintliest of you all...WAHAHA..."

Mummy Jay, the big man himself - Jayden Benedict, and his Godmother, ME. I'm his beloved auntie janice & Godmum. Gosh, I'm like 3/4s of a surrogate mother! I'm Jayden's fairy Godmother....I'm his Godma. Wanna tell you a secret: I've been duty-bound to serve as Godmama. Did I mention I'm officially his Godmother? HAHAHAHA

banged outta luck

You know the saying: “when it rains, it pours”? Yea that kinda happened to me in the last 2 weeks and shit hit the fan. If you've seen Chicago starring Catherine Zeta Jones and Renée Zellweger then ya, it really was ‘all that jazz’ and a little too much more.

Friend and I were anticipating a week of luxuriating in Langkawi when BAM! I got involved in a 3-car sandwich with me being the slice of ham. La-dee-da and we all went to make our separate police reports. Police took down my statement and we went up to see the investigative officer...nice fella, him. Helped me so-called reconstruct what happened and he even pulled out the files of the previous two reports to explain how I would have to go about insurance claims. After that, police took photographs of my car and I chugged home with cousy beside me, and her bf following us to subang so that he could ascertain that I reached all the way home (bless him).

Mana tau, just before the damansara toll, my car bonnet flew right up in our faces and smashed against the windscreen! I tried to break as gradually as I could and ducked below the top of the wheel to see where I was driving, and hauled my sorry-ass car to the side. Then, you shoulda seen the looks of incredulity on our faces... we got over the initial shock of having the bonnet fly right up to cover the windscreen and then we started to marvel at how the windscreen didn’t even get smashed...or cracked! Her bf had already turned off our road to use LDP so we had to call him back to where we were. Then we tried bending the damn thing forwards and backwards but it wouldn’t budge. Haiyo... thank heavens that the PLUS patrol came along and they were also extremely understanding and nice. I did wonder at that time if there were cameras up on the opp. buildings. They yanked the bonnet down, tied it in place and sent us on our way (janganlah pandu cepat cepat)...

The next day was a whirlwind of calls to the insurance company and workshops (apart from the many transfers to non-existing officers) and finally I managed to plonk my car into a panel workshop at Jalan 222/3. What’s more, i was supposed to depart to langkawi in the next 2 days AND move to my new place right after my descent to KL! Fucking shit man, seriously. I was so fucking fed up that I couldn’t start a conversation without snapping at somebody. Yea i admit i cried. I was frustrated and i didn’t have any cheap plates to throw.

Langkawi was quite fun, made some new friends who are originally from Portugal, Mexico, France and the UK but are all working in the UK save for one (pictures on FB). The trip was really relaxing for me this time around. It remedied my mind and i actually was much more receptive and productive at work! It also restored my faith in good people.

When i got back, i hated that i had to be so helpless and rely on other people’s cars for simple things like driving out to see Dobbs or to buy makan. What’s more, i was moving house the very next day...with no car. nada. The workshop said my cotton-candy car would be in repairs for an estimate of 1 month...And so my beloved brother-in-law helped me search for a proper car rental at a decent price, and ‘my’ car was delivered to me at my office 2 days after i flew back from the sunny cove. The day after i moved, murphy acknowledged that it was just the right time for me to fall sick. And so the heat intensified and swelled in my head and my sinuses got blocked and the irritable cough started. Swell, eh?

I know you probably didn’t enjoy reading this complaint post as much as i revelled in letting it all out. HEHE... anyways, things are just starting to settle down now. I’ve just enjoyed my first weekend in my own new place, and im just done with antibiotics. Starting to breathe a lil easier now... woot! woot!

one frenny deserves another

Went out with a friend of mine on one of those standard nights where our routines hardly varied, and of course we still managed to have quite a lotta fun :) NO i refute the fact that insinuates that i might be boring. HMPH.

Anyways, it seemed to me that we just talked and talked. Like what most of my guy friends would say to me (on a disturbingly regular basis), he pointed out to me that I’m a scary person. Hmph, i said. You people don’t have the balls to stand up to the stronger of the ‘weaker’ sex. Haha i must admit that was pretty stimulating conversation aka debate we had and we cheered each other with beers to cool down and forget the mock animosity. Each cheer also labelled the "loser" who couldn’t outtalk the other. TEEHEE :) i mean, no la i ain’t that mean... i just find it funny is all! Anyways there’s always a gazillion chances to one that i might be tagged the loser next time aite?!

According to him, he learned a new phrase from me that night, which was "it’s just too bad lah". Thing is, merely saying the stuff isn’t good enough...you have to cast your gaze downwards, practically roll those peepers from left to right like a pendulum, and add the finishing touches with a shoulder shrug - both palms up. Try it and chances are you’ll feel like you can explain away any wrongdoing. And er...any guilt that arises from that. THEN frenny iced the whole thing over by reminding me that i am one of the lucky ones. I’d have to admit i went blanko for a while, then i had to prompt for an explanation. What he explained after that was so ridiculously simple i really couldn’t believe - no.1: the impact it had on me - no.2: how insignificant my troubles looked after that, - and no.3: what a whiner and indecisive shrew ive been.

Of course, good lessons are never easily forgotten are they? I suppose mine will stay for quite a while, and the trouble is I’m known for short term memory relapses. HEHE :) So here’s to more knowledge/wisdom from the most unexpected places! Cheers.

tipped off my rocker

nobody shall be forced to commit to, do and say anything even slightly against their will. it is God's will that we live our lives the way we want it to.

think about it: precious few things are grave enough to become an actual obstacle in the path you're wending through. its like a snowflake - depending how serious you want that obstacle to be - it can melt away to nothing, or become aggravated enough to snowball, literally, into something that totally prevents you from making your way across to point b.

im doing this at the office on the last friday before the second-last cny weekend. a friend of mine asked "when was the last proper date you went on?" and that started the clogs workin i tell you! and truth was, i tinkered with my thoughts here, there, everywhere...and i couldnt tell you when i last felt like the universe rocked my soul. funnily enough, i lunched with my occasional lunch buddy just now and we talked about being with a true love. my friend gravely admitted that he had never felt that rocked-my-soul way with any girl hes been with before... and that got both of us a little sobered up. and kinda worried. HAHA.

haihs, anyways, i have a cny open house thingy at the bf's house together with 20 over eager relatives. uh oh. people, let's keep a lid on things ok? or in other words, shut your foul pie trap before i stuff that irritating pie hole of yours with a dozen mandarins. HEHE.

haihs...neways people, have a great firecrackin' cny...go BULLy everyone shorter than you, and be sure not to set anything aflame. tata and muaks to all :)

Ssshhhuckalaka baby!

Time is making fools of us again. When has it ever been fair anyway?

Being in the here and now, i try looking back through the 10 or so months of flimsy memories and it becomes pretty clear to me how daunting it is to attempt condensing this whole year.

First thing that comes back to me as sharp as the images of reality (cos it is) is my newfound job. Every other little thing that has differed in my routine has some impact on my lifestyle and self. I’ve been on the right and wrong end of a Tebori needle and i suppose i’ve glint something from what not to do. Still, i’ve gone through pretty noisome episodes and i’m still none too clear about where each wrong has made its right.

The next case (for want of a better word) this year is of course the lovely piece of property that nicholas and i purchased earlier in july. I remember those teatime sessions in the star cafeteria, where we held earnest conversations about the house. The topics we covered ranged from pricing, porch tiles, contemporary bathrooms, crafty yet practical interiors, dobby’s living area and letting space for nic’s fish imports, making meals and doing laundry together... Sigh, my eyes are becoming a little glazed over this as my fingers chicken type across the page...how’s that for a start!

But of course this isn’t really a start for me, per say. After all, i moved like a nomad from jb to klang, to Australia, then back to klang (but in a different camp), then to subang where yours truly had to oversee contractors for renovations and buy all the thingajigs to furnish the whole house. Doing up a house in terms of rectifying and beautifying can be a right pain in the crack bone, i can tell you that. Never mind the vision of a charming home and its pleasing innards, irritation knows no boundaries. Thankfully, this happy burden falls onto both nic and me to shoulder, so its gonna be a 50-50 snowjob this coming Christmas. Heave-ho, heave-ho! Hehe :)

Neways, Pohlin and i plan to be fly away end of December so that we can laze around on the beach and wave away irksome guys like flies :P Ocos we gonna tan until every pore is filled with grains of paradise sand! Hehehohohaha. We’re gonna eat yummy good food, prance around, do some pub hopping, prance around summore, swim, hopefully make some decent friends... yeayy! The closer it draws nearer to December the more excited i feel! Me feels the tinglings in me spines!

More on the happenings later when the New Year comes. Meantime, we’ll breathe in and out all day along, laugh, heave an occasional sigh, fart, cry, grumble, sigh, and start it all over again... until the next big thing comes along.

Till then folks, l e t s
HO...HO...HO TO A JINGLY CHRISTMAS
&
AN EXPLOSIVE NEW YEAR!

langkawi-ed

I expected a fun weekend of sun, sand and sea for our langkawi trip. Yea it turned out to be all that... and then some! Woohoo!!! You have no idea ;)

Twas a whirlwind of fun and late nights that induced magnificent panda eyes and a head full of pretty white clouds. No complaints whatsoever, we met lots of interesting people...and at the end of the weekend managed to make stampduty with some rather alright people from there :) The people i wanna put the spotlight on in particular are... Aush...(so far still quite decent...so heres a shoutout to him: yo de laheehoo!) and 2 other real decent men we met in sunba - cool place, dat. Gotta catch up with them sooooon. I'm guessing bel and i just basked in the lavishness of fun and attention we got out of whom we shall refer to as our "coastal friends"... hehe.

I think bel and i made the right decision to take off that unbelievable though short-lived weekend. Those times made me feel so wildly happy... might be due to the smell of sand and the free tide, but then again perhaps i just felt the need to go akimbo. To leave kl in my pursuit of proper insanity and happiness, if ya know what i mean.

The rebel in me enjoyed the late hours immensely. Kinda reminded me of my Australian days when i boozed on the car porch and neighbours would give me a shoutout in the evenings as i dwaddled the time away beside Oscar, my friends' ex-pooch. It didnt matter that i hardly ever saw the sun rise or set.

Back to being langkawi-ed, i must reiterate what a whirlwind weekend it was man. Time and tide really waits for no 'man'...so to each her own i say, and ahoy we go! We shot a fair few rounds of pool; Bel in the lead of course :) It isnt any one time and place that my body manages to relax and ease its knots of tension. I miss that slow-paced that we ran through at a gallop... twas a time i felt so wantonly free!

It was there and then (on the last afternoon unfortunately) that i fully understood the ideals of living on location where the home chooses you. I'm kinda jealous because i probably dont hv the guts to tear down the concrete safety walls of kl and move on to oblivion and bliss. If i could find that courage deep inside somewhere, id be there in erm, 2weeks :P

In any case, my weekend stint taught me something i quite forgot, and that is to "enjoy each moment as it comes" I gotta (try and) see to it that its less of Ms Got-A-Bug-Up-Her-Arse and more of the Geisha in action from now on...city slattern, perhaps? Keke...anyhoo pix below, enjoy!

missy having a hullabala time after some tanning

spindly and crawly when alive...and yummily sweet and beautiful when steamed! hehe

the most beautiful fat prawns this jakoon ever seen and tasted...we kept swooning over it man!

the Yellow Café man himself, and yours truly! a privilege to be sure :)

aush and ms cool-as-cucumber

miss janice in person to investigate this cool Yellow Café to see what kind of a hjinks it can get me up to :P

pretty belle bel enjoying our last afternoon at the café by the beach

Already i'm planning my next trip and ive only been back nearly 3 days... well life's an adventure right and dont hold your breath, cos the trains leavin' and im ON it!

You know the term "time flies when you're having fun"? Well, well, it is no wonder that it has come as a a big surprise to me that time really does fly at my new workplace!
My new colleagues - comprising of team mates and other friendly co-workers are really nice, and i'm just grateful to have the chance to get to know these nice ums. I'm doodling my thoughts on notepad now before uploading them... till more updates then, ttfn! :)
