mummy goes over the rainbow :P

On Sept 4 - the day of mummy's birthday itself, kristie and i were communicating via email at work to decide where the birthday celebration would be. I didnt quite know what suggestions to throw out so it seemed easiest to narrow down the list, rather than begin clutching at straws! According to mummy, there are some rather classy places to dine around bandar putri puchong that we didnt know of before. Anyways we all finally decided to venture someplace nice over there and we ended up in an ever-popular place - Pizza Uno!

Kitty and james did a Houdini while we were being seated and of course mummy wondered where they disappeared to. Kitty actually asked me about the cake arrangements while we were seated in the car with mummy between us! Hehehe...she mouthed the words to me and i went like "oh oh" so she and james shot off to a nearby bakery the moment they got down the car!

When they got back, we all began ordering...some die-hard favourites, some new choices. The food was awesome as usual, though we lost some confidence in the waiter/owner when he failed to elaborate our choice of appetisers to us. Foie gras, escargot and basil pesto ALL came separately with their servings of warm foccacia loafs! Two of the choices were menu-ed on the walls without pictures, so you would have thought he would explain to us that ALL of them had bread man! Stupid idiot... anyways all was not lost just yet; we didnt have to morph into yeast factories after all! There were braised lamb shanks, aglio olio, steak, oven slow-baked & fried chicken, as well as my seafood paella so slowly but surely we ate through the many many courses! YUMMY...

Luckily papa and mummy were quite stuffed by then, so dessert was out of the question. We signaled the stupid waiter/owner and he marched out with some other waiters singing "happy birthday" to mummy! Mummy was pleased i could tell. Anyways, who doesnt like a little personalised attention?! :) Papa, the usual gala entertainer told us hilarious hokkien jokes while we were having the fluffy tiramisu for dessert and gales of laughter continued long after dessert! It really was much more than your average dinner and cake and im real pleased that all of us - especially the birthday girl, enjoyed herself tremendously.
~ Stay beautifully you, mummy ~

one ooh-la-la birthday!

Turning a year older last night was really a whole new experience for me! keke...but then again, how many times does one turn 85?? :P My adorable Donkey Kong took me to CafeCafe KL where the ambience blew me away, i must admit he did succeed in impressing me with such a dinner and also being the hunky dory he is (keke). Really was bowled over by the decor within! Think dark elegant draperies, champagne glasses, french cuisine, millions of chandelier glass twinkling overhead and YOU'VE GOT IT, beh beh! ;) Smiling waiters in a mysterious cavern of victorian beauty are at your service with oh-so-glorious food and wine/liquor/coffee liquer/tonics/ fruities/etc... We re-educated ourselves on table etiquette and ate steadily through norwegian salmon, spaghetti heaped with bolognese sauce and seafood... I'm even swooning over those times as i sit here and write this now :) All the while we chatted and caught up on the day to day as we washed our chatter-dry throats down with one truely unique iced lemon tea and a Fosters (how could i not?)! Coming back home, i was very happy that kristie and james were there too, so we could all enjoy the cheese cake Donkey Kong bought from the place where it has our certified 'chop' of goodness :P He was really very sweet and i'm sure he got the idea of my Simpsons' cake from my overexcited reenactment of Homer and Bart's antics! Gaaaa! hehe... Time to time, i sometimes tell people close to me how some of my 21/8s do not feel like my special day - thats simply because i havent been made to feel special! This time, I would say that YESH, this birdday has got my big fat 'sirim chop' all over it :D Anyhoo, enjoy browsing through the pictures below as i have and smile away! See picture, see picture! hehe. *HUGS*

merrily the donkeys roll along

A big HARO to all the people who keep tabs on me :P !
I got a fairly new announcement to make:
I'm attached now, and i'm loving every day with my guy... :)
I've known him for a couple of months now and we just thought it was high time (after the kajan break) that we got a move on with life and onto all the sweet episodes it's just waiting for us to experience! To those who might be worried about my quick transition, thank you for your really sweet thoughts :) but i believe i looked high and low before i took that leap. Time and tide really waits for no man and my recent new 'labelling' has proven to me that troubles really only lasts as long as you keep dwelling on it.
Okay then, i'll stop right here fer now but stay alongside me as we gallop toward a better future! :)

leaving ms. melancholy behind

Kaj and i have gone solo, each onto different paths and these couple of days have been a very difficult time for me, and probably for him too. Instead of dwelling on uncertainties and what not, i guess the best option now is for us to take this very bold step and pursue our individual goals. He has been extremely gracious in handling our relationship with delicate care and in remaining firm friends with me! I really cannot thank him enough for all that he has done for me while we were together...thanks a gazillion, babe! He is one of the best experiences that ever happened to me and bloody hell, I would do it all over again! :) The next inevitable step of course, is to lighten up...laugh about bullcrap with family and friends... and eventually, even share our endless love for laughter with someone else. This is it for now... update on Bali trip soon!
Peace out, love to all... :)

Back i go to Daorae

Yeah i went back to Daorae again, this time with my whole family! There was mummy dearest, daddy-o, kitty kou & hubby...and there was lil ol' me.
Check out the dishes we order below...man...luckily mummy and i didnt have main orders otherwise more food woulda gone wasted...we had some rather unique dishes - cold raw beef with shredded chinese pears, buckwheat noodles (with hard boiled egg and all) in cold clear soup, chunks of beef ribs (to burn, baby, burn!) and Bulgogi. This one wasnt the beef that was meant for the grill...it was glass noodles with yummy beef and sauce steaming in a stone bowl!

Yeah man...we sat and ate our way through (chug, chug, chug!) for about a couple of sittings...i guess we all started out famished and ended up extremely satiated and sleepy...we even had several tastings from the shochu mummy & papa were sharing! ;)

It certainly looks as if we had a blast didnt we? Yeah...:D great times are with your loved ones...catch yall later now...TTFN!

its raining again...on me...

I had a fantastic night out with my colleague yesterday, really couldnt have asked for a better conversation exchange, socialising and shit. Came back still a lil woozy from flu, so i popped an extremely drowsy flu tablet before i headed upstairs and crashed.
Even though i awoke at 1130am this morning, right now im about as perky as eeyore... my damn flu la, disturbing the peaceful abode i reside. Started out as a couple of sneezes, then subsequently a nose passage got blocked...SIGH...I cant begin to describe how down and sleepy this flu's making me...exactly like that dear donkey in the forest :) well, that managed to put a smile on me face!

Right about now all the sniffling has made me just sleepy and anti-social! SIGH... anyways, cant stay home moping around...got a friend's akad nikah to attend at 8pm sharp! Hopefully my stomach's well enough then, was feeling a little roller coasty this whole afternoon. Im trying to perk myself up, so right now im thinking...whole roast lambs, curries, sambal, kurma, ketupat and stuffs ahead of me! Precisely the menu i should be avoiding actually! S I G H... well, alls well that ends well... see how lah later...so thats my 777 for today. Makan some TGIF takeout, getting ready to roll in tall and pweety to share in a friend's happy day. Here's wishing all of u a good night ahead! muaks..

annyonghaseyo!

Last wednesday i made a casual suggestion to go check out Daorae, a korean bbq place in taipan, and babes got really enthusiastic about it. and i managed to rope kristie in for the meal too! Parking was a bitch though...kristie met us in taipan cos she already happened to be there checking out a clothes store.

Daorae happens to be a rather upmarket place, with an inviting environment and friendly waiters who offer very good service! Every table has one waiter assigned to serve those patrons and our table had 2, all the better! The 2 waiters bowed and gave us suggestions for bbq, smiled at us, cooked for us, served onto our plates and even wrapped the delicious thingies in lettuce in ready-to-eat forms for us! They practically did everything but curtsey to us i think :P

What does one order when faced with endless choices of korean marinated meats, noodles, rice/noodles served in steaming stonewares, korean savoury pancakes, condiments and etc??? I ordered the simplest of choices - authentic kimchi soup with my order of seafood and sticky rice.

Id have to admit though, that the bbq spread Kaj ordered tasted much better than my kimchi soup. Perhaps the soup woulda had more of that sourish flavour if they hadnt mixed a whole egg in it! It really was a surprise that this was the first time i was disappointed in kimchi soup! Oh well, id just have to keep that in mind IF i re-order that same dish.

We yakked and ate our way through this culinary bulgogi and kimchi journey, and kept the waiters busy refilling our vege, fat taugeh & kimchi condiments. I was quite astonished that we managed to whack all there was on the table!
Daorae Korean BBQ can be a rather pocket-emptying place though, get a group of hungry hunks and bitches if you want an authentic taste of cuisine served with courtesy found nowhere else!

niki & jessica sanders

Seen that movie "Mean Girls"? Recently i suddenly came to the realisation that i was a mean person. i actually felt that i had selfishly left me to fend for myself...that make sense? Im not saying im a total samaritan, but i think i dunked the niceties and stepped outta myself for a break. i dont know la.

One positive thing arose from that la at least. Looking on at the situation from an outsider's perspective did help clear things up for a bit...u know that saying "an onlooker sees most of the game"? yeah...my sentiments exactly. Anyways, more importantly i dropped the fcked-up ego trip like a steamin pile o cowdung because i realise how mean i was to people around me, especially my loved ones who definitely dont need to stand around listening to my crap!

So what i could least establish at this point was to apologise lor... chicago really nailed it on the head with "hard to say im sorry"! i might not be aunt agony or whats-her-face, but i do know that most of the valuable life lessons u pick up are from regrettable/bitter experiences. hold onto that and think about it, it really makes sense! In the end just make sure these "donts" stay inside that mush of yours. Oh gawd am soooo sleepy, am drained out, my energies sapped and dried out like a prune :P Gotta take off now...be good fellas.

along came u

today was supposed to be another routine work day...that was all written in the stars but then this fella came along and brightened up my day :)
sigh...life does have its ups and downs dont it? and all the fun and attractive 'bonuses' whizz by us on a conveyor belt that prevents us from reaching an arm out in time to get at the little buggers.
oh well... whoever said that line "nothing is perfect"...i hear ye dude.
laters...
